Post Operative

Surgery is only one part of the healing process.  Physical therapy is needed to attain full motion and strength as well as to optimize function.  However, this has to be done in a way that does not disrupt healing of surgical repairs or create excess inflammation.  We have specific protocols for all of our surgeries, as well as videos of many of the exercises.  We encourage therapists to contact our office with any questions you may have.

Non-Operative

Physical therapy can effectively treat many causes of musculoskeletal pain because in many cases the source of the pain is not structural, but due to weakness, stiffness, or imbalances across the joint.  Having the appropriate protocol is important, as strengthening too early can cause increased pain and dysfunction with certain diagnoses.

Preventative

Even if you are not currently having pain or any dysfunction, certain stretches and exercises can prevent painful conditions and injuries from occurring.  This is especially recommended for overhead athletes and overhead workers.
